Edited by: Goa Vibe on 24/01/2008 16:45:53 i salvage everything i kill... which can get up to 40-50 wrecks a mission.
buy a destroyer and fit salvagers and tractor beams on it, this will be your salvage ship
when on a mission, bookmark a wreck. if your mission has multiple accel gates, bookmark a wreck in each 'room'
loot any mission specific cargo you need, then turn in mission. swap to your destroyer salvager
warp to first bookmarked wreck...salvage all wrecks in visible range (this is also when I actually loot the wrecks)
you will get good at this.. start at one end, set velocity to max, target and tractor all wrecks within 20km, set "Approach" for the wreck just out of 20km range and be approaching it as you are tractoring/salvaging. If I have like 10-15 wrecks within 20km range I just stop, so I can drop tractor on ships within 1000m and start the salvager, so I can tractor in others. Basically I wind up with like a dozen loot cans when I'm done, or you can loot when you select the target to turn off tractor and turn on salvager.
When u clear a room, delete that bookmark, warp to next wreck, salvage, rinse repeat til you run out of bookmarks
fly home
collect lots of salvage
over a few missions, you will get alot of salvage, dump this in a shuttle (you can fit hundreds of salvage in a shuttle)
fly to nearest trade hub (ie: Jita)
right click each item, "View Market Details"
sell item in nearest station giving the best buy price
It's a 12 hop to Jita for me, and I check and note prices in Domain and Citadel on my way up there
When I get to Jita I sell parts where Jita has best price
On my way back home I sell rest of parts in Domain or Cit if that was the best price
Can make the difference between a 14 mil payday and a 20mil payday.
I'm also checking mineral prices on my way - drone missions will drop lots of alloys that can be refined to minerals (refine when you get 'home' alloys take up much LESS space than the minerals they refine into - exact opposite of ore) drones plus nice roids in some missions I'll need 2 hauls of an industrial to sell them - after my shuttle run I will know where to sell for best price.
Back to salvage: some items are worth 400k some are work 200 isk. I have a notepad open (or excel) and have pre-recorded prices in those few regions, I update prices as I fly to Jita.... I pay attention ONLY to the items I have alot of or are worth lots of isk. (armor plates, trit bars, fried interface, melted cap, etc)
use this to find the price you should be selling your salvage for
http://eve-central.com/home/market.html
this will help you avoid those scam artists who buy your armor plates for 20,000 isk instead of what you should be getting $140,000.
